Performances in 2007

Our students gain did extremely well in the 2007 CSEC and CAPE examinations. This year our students achieved a pass rate of between 90 and 100% in 14 of the 15 subject areas offered at the CSEC level, in 16 of the 17 subjects in Unit 1 of the CAPE level and in 8 of the 11 subjects done in Unit 2.

At the CSEC level we had one student with a pass rate of 86%, 2 with 95%, and one at 97%, four at 98% and 7 at 100%.

Most impressive was the number of students achieving Grade One passes. 95% of our students writing Information Technology earned Grade One passes. In fact of the total 1,759 subject entries from students of Campion College, almost 90% of the passes were One and Two.

At the CAPE level we had a 100% pass rate in 17 subject units and approx. 90% in 7 others. The school was named Top CAPE school for the year 2007.

In the 2007 examinations several students gained several scholarships and top ranks in the external examinations:

Orville Morgan-Jamaica Independence Scholar (Open)
Hnin Hnin Oo-Jamaica Adult Suffrage Scholar (Open)

Special Mention
Hnin Hnin Oo was the matriculant at the University of the West Indies Matriculation Ceremony for 2007. This means that she was the first year student with the most impressive academic background.

Raphael Sheckleford was the winner of the award for the top performer in CAPE Computer Science in the Caribbean region.

Performances in 2006
2006 was another very good year for Campion College in area of academic performance as we had a number of awards and government scholarships:

Our most recent joy was to learn that Nadiya Figueroa has been named this year's Jamaican, Rhodes Scholar. Four of the five candidates short listed for this prestigious scholarship were students of Campion College. This is the fourth consecutive year that this scholarship has been won by a Campionite.

Ankita Kulkarni - Jamaica Independence Open Scholarship
Robert French - Jamaica Independence Male Scholarship

Campionites swept the field in the CSEC Examinations, walking away with a number of awards at the recently held ceremony put on by the Jamaica Association of Principals of Secondary Schools.

Campionites also did well in the CXC CAPE examinations winning the award for Top School at the CXC National Awards. At the previous awards cermonies we were never i the running for the Top CAPE School, because we were still doing the GCE Advanced Level examinations in some subject areas. It is to the credit of our students, therefore that in a year when we had still not changed over entirely to CAPE, Campion managed to wrest the trophy from the hold of Immaculate Conception High.
